The residential treatment program of the Harpst Center recognizes the importance of the family in the treatment of a child or teenager. If a viable family member, or family members, are available and willing, Murphy-Harpst encourages family members to participate in the assessment process, the development of the treatment plan, treatment updates, family therapy, family visits, and agency-wide family days. Available families are required to help develop the discharge plans when their child is admitted and to carry them out (if family reunification is the goal) at the time treatment is completed.
For families who are seeking advice about placement options for their child, Murphy-Harpst’s admissions director, in consultation with the clinical team if needed, can provide information regarding available resources and how to contact and access these resources. The admissions director, Sarah Barron, can be reached at 770-748-1500 extention 209.
Families or other legal guardians of Polk or Floyd County children and youth who need emotional and/or behavioral help can access that help from the Murphy-Harpst Community Services Center in Rockmart. To inquire about these services, contact Janice Barron at 770-748-6500.
