Host a Special Day of Giving to Benefit Murphy-Harpst
Murphy-Harpst needs private donations each year to meet the cost of therapeutic services. Therapy to heal children who have experienced violent physical, emotional, and sexual abuse is at the core of our mission. In 2010, the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church established a special annual day of giving for Murphy-Harpst in churches conference-wide. The funds raised on this day help Murphy-Harpst in meeting the annual cost of therapy, which after reimbursements from Medicaid, can be as much as $500,000. The third Sunday in July is the North Georgia Conference’s designated Annual Day of Giving for Murphy-Harpst, and we look forward to the next Annual Day on July 17, 2011. Alternate dates may be selected at each church’s discretion.
Please help us reach our goal by hosting a Special Day of Giving at your church. It’s easy and inexpensive and will make a huge difference in the lives of our children. To host, simply:
- Educate your congregation about Murphy-Harpst
- Select a date (any Sunday throughout the year)
- Print the bulletin insert and poster found in our Toolkit for distribution
- Supply envelops for offering plates (alternately, Murphy-Harpst can provide)
Become an Advocate for Murphy-Harpst
Murphy-Harpst is looking for church advocates to spread the good news about our work. Advocates will promote Murphy-Harpst to their congregations in preparation for the July 17 Annual Day of Giving. This includes posting flyers, passing out brochures, placing cards in bulletins and distributing envelopes for offering plates. We are proud to be a ministry of the United Methodist Church and are making a diligent effort to engage all congregations in North Georgia in our work. If you are interested in becoming an advocate, please contact Tom Saltino, Director of Stewardship.
