At the heart of the volunteer support of Murphy-Harpst
is the donor. Whether they contribute monthly or once a year,
our regular and faithful donors are the ones who keep MH in
the business of serving children. MH provides whatever services
are recommended by our clinical staff to restore children’s
lives regardless if the costs of those services are fully
reimbursed by the Department of Family and Children Services,
insurance companies, the Department of Juvenile Justice, or
other referral sources. For example, the Equine Therapy Program,
proven to be effective in treatment of troubled children,
has no funding source except charitable gifts. The same is
true for our religious services department, arts and crafts,
special tutoring, summer and weekend excursions for the children,
and many other services we provide. Individual and group donations
ensure the continued existence of these critical and innovative
programs.
