Ms. Joanne Simmons, CSW-ACP
President /CEO
Murphy-Harpst Children's Centers
Since 1991, Ms. Simmons has served as President of Murphy-Harpst
Children's Centers, giving leadership to MH's many current
programs, two centers, and over 100 staff members. Ms. Simmons
continually works toward the development of new programs to
meet the rapidly changing needs of children and families.
Prior to coming to MH, she was Director of the Asbury Division
of the Methodist Home Basic Care Program in Waco, Texas. She
holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University
of Texas, Austin, and is a member of the Academy of Certified
Social Works, as well as other professional organizations.

L. Susan Stroup
L. Susan Stroup joined Murphy-Harpst in 1997 as the Coordinator
of Resource Development. While her main responsibilities include
receiving and acknowledging all charitable contributions,
coordinating the delivery of Christmas gifts and other special
events for the children, she enjoys the opportunity to speak
to groups about the work of MH and give tours of the campus.
Susan has a Bachelor's degree in psychology and a Master's
and Ed. S. degrees in Educational Psychology, Guidance and
Counseling. She is an active member of Second Avenue United
Methodist Church. Around campus Susan is known as the "Christmas
House Lady" because of the donation house she makes available
year-round to staff and residents.

Vance Voinche
Vance received his Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
from West Georgia College. He taught special education before
joining the staff of the Texas and Georgia Associations for
Retarded Citizens, serving as liaison for their Special Olympics.
After this, he entered the field of sales for a large corporation.
Vance’s experience in special education, his work
with special populations, and the skills he gained in marketing
prepared him well for his employment with Murphy-Harpst.
Hired as the Coordinator for Community, Volunteer and Mission
Services twelve years ago, Vance understands the needs of
the special children whom he represents when he speaks to
church groups, individuals, civic organizations, and businesses
about support of the MHCC programs. In addition to his duties
as a spokesperson for Murphy-Harpst, Vance coordinates volunteer
mission team projects, hosts campus tours, prepares campus
opportunities for mission teams, coordinates the summer Red
Clay Mission Project, and acts as liaison between Murphy-Harpst
and its communities.
