Employment Opportunities

Murphy-Harpst, Inc. offers many employment opportunities for those 21 years of age or older who have a high school diploma or GED and who possess a valid Georgia driver’s license. Supervisory positions require at least a Bachelors Degree preferably in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field and prior work experience. Clinical positions require a Masters Degree or higher and certification or licensure.

Most of the employment opportunities at Murphy-Harpst are for qualified people who can work directly with the residents in the resident buildings (often called “cottages” or “units”) and for those who can supervise this work. These employees are referred to as child care staff or cottage staff. Each resident building and program is supervised by a leader and an assistant leader. Other Harpst campus positions include a campus program director, the campus vice president, the clinical director psychologist, a team of master’s level therapists, therapeutic recreation staff, equine staff, human resources personnel, admissions personnel, a controller and a book keeper, a secretarial pool, kitchen staff, maintenance workers, nursing/clinic staff, resource development personnel, a medical director consultant, and a consulting psychiatrist.

The organization provides a comprehensive orientation program for new employees and ongoing professional training for all employees who work with the children and youth.

A criminal record check is conducted on all applicants and a physical examination and TB test are required prior to employment. The campuses of Murphy-Harpst are smoke-free and drug-free environments and, as an official Drug-Free Workplace, have the right to conduct random drug screens.

Murphy-Harpst is an equal opportunity employer with an attractive benefit package.

Anyone interested in employment may contact the Human Resources Department at 770-748-1500 ext. 206 or 207.
