Murphy-Harpst, Inc. offers many employment
opportunities for those 21 years of age or older who have
a high school diploma or GED and who possess a valid Georgia
driver’s license. Supervisory positions require at least
a Bachelors Degree preferably in social work, psychology,
sociology, or a related field and prior work experience. Clinical
positions require a Masters Degree or higher and certification
or licensure.
Most of the employment opportunities at Murphy-Harpst are
for qualified people who can work directly with the residents
in the resident buildings (often called “cottages”
or “units”) and for those who can supervise this
work. These employees are referred to as child care staff
or cottage staff. Each resident building and program is supervised
by a leader and an assistant leader. Other Harpst campus positions
include a campus program director, the campus vice president,
the clinical director psychologist, a team of master’s
level therapists, therapeutic recreation staff, equine staff,
human resources personnel, admissions personnel, a controller
and a book keeper, a secretarial pool, kitchen staff, maintenance
workers, nursing/clinic staff, resource development personnel,
a medical director consultant, and a consulting psychiatrist.
The organization provides a comprehensive orientation program
for new employees and ongoing professional training for all
employees who work with the children and youth.
A criminal record check is conducted on all applicants and
a physical examination and TB test are required prior to employment.
The campuses of Murphy-Harpst are smoke-free and drug-free
