What We Do

children walking through a field

Counties across Georgia are struggling under the weight of an overwhelming need: abused and neglected young people outpace the resources to provide for them. At Murphy-Harpst, we stand in the gap by working alongside local and state agencies to provide residential treatment, specialized foster care placements and community programs to serve at-risk children and their families.

“Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”

– Mark 10:14

Our Foundation

As a Christian-based mission for 100 years, our campus remains a stable environment where hurting youth may safely lean on Jesus Christ for healing and hope. This Christian environment of care is a vital part of the recovery and future of children across Georgia languishing in the foster care system. And it is built upon the regular prayers and service of our dedicated staff and many church partners.

At the Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center in Cedartown, Georgia, we provide holistic care for 75 children as well as young adults who choose to stay with us after they turn 18. Through education, recreation and therapy we care for their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

Foster Care

Foster Care

Our team has helped provide safe, caring, stable foster homes for Georgia’s most vulnerable children since 2003. We provide an exceptional level of support for foster families and children, including our 24/7 helpline, direct access to our Director of Foster Care, and other resources they need to be successful.

Evolve

Evolve Initiative

Working in tandem with counties across the state, we provide therapeutic care in family-styled homes across Georgia. EVOLVE Houses take in children residing in hotels or being released from residential treatment with high acuity trauma recovery, ongoing mental health, and behavior management needs.
